Burning Red

Fire engine red eyes have been getting me some weird looks. The eye doctor tells me I have the viral and not the bacterial form of pink eye. It is not itchy and the discharge is clear. My eyes will be this shade of red for a minimum of seven days.
Sore tired eyes, blurry vision, sleepy. The eye drops with steroids sting intensely. It is like a wet-willy in your eye. The doc said the infection makes the nerves more exposed. It is beyond dentist drill pain. I really thought the first time i tried the drops, that I had touched my eye ball with the tip of the dispenser bottle.

An ice compress feels nice. Wearing my swimming goggles filled with saline solution feels excellent. When asked my doctor said that is not a good idea because of the risk of infection caused by dirt in the goggles. It is so relaxing, I might do it in the future if I can't sleep.

The three different bottles of drops are stored in the fridge. One cold drop of refrigerated eye medicine is much easier to administer. I can not wait for this to clear up.
