i remember the tokay lizard from thailand (#11). love it!

i never realized it til now but the veiled chameleon (#1) sounds exactly like john saying, "fuck right off..." play it a couple of times, the similarity is there. you gotta say the words though.

after no scouting we stumbled upon the perfect spot for the company toothpick factory. there's stiff competition from maine but we figure if we use cedar instead of birch the toothpicks will 1. double as tinder and 2. offer a more fragrant picking experience.

Friday I took the Yukon wet suit for a swim at the beach. Saturday I bought the bike at a yard sale for $5. I was on my way to Canadian tire to check out cheap bikes.
Added air and oil to the bike, took it for a 15 min spin. Reviewed the triathlon registration requirements. Told the wife where I was going.
Got up at 5am, packed the car, drove to Guysborough, waited.. registered.. triple checked the rules to be sure I could wear the thick wetsuit. The water was only 15 degrees. 750 swim (slow 23 mins) Flat 20km bike ride (1 hour) 5K run does not matter.
With a warm 9mm wetsuit I could only manage a weak breast stroke and couldn't really kick because I floated so high out of the water. I had the only mountain bike at the race, and I kept my slow pace. After transitioning to the run my legs felt like I was running in wet jeans.
Yeah I had looked up triathlons in Nova Scotia two months ago, but I did not train, practice, buy a bike, go to the pool.. I survived, and can't wait to go faster. But I am not going to spoil a $1000 for a bike and another $500 for a 3mm wet suit.
